My Dad and I want to visit our homeland someday. Dad lost his passport a few years ago and in the process of moving out of our house he lost his naturalization certificate. It seems it’s going to be hard to get him a passport because of these setbacks. I spoke to a couple of people from the Passport Office who said we could file a File Search for his citizenship status. So I added that form to Dad’s application. When we went to the Passport Office at the US post office here they turned us away.
I am sad because there seems to be a big hurdle to get his Naturalization Certificate. It will cost $555 and take months to obtain.
My Dad is 97 years old. He wants to see his homeland again. I asked our Legal Aid lawyer for help. It will likely take time.
