Evening Thoughts

It’s after 7:30. The hurly burly of the day has died down. Dinner trays have been collected and meds have been dispensed to the residents. Our nurse is finishing up and preparing for the next day. Residents are settling down in their beds and some have the television on. Some are looking through their cellphones to find interesting stories on Facebook, Instagram and Google.

I’m resting and thinking about the next few days. A very good friend passed away last week. I’m very sad she’s gone and won’t be visiting us anymore. Her wake is on Friday. Our other friends are taking us to the funeral home in the afternoon. It will be a sad occasion. She touched many lives.

The nurses aides have finished their work but they will stay until 11 o’clock in the evening. They are very efficient. Some residents have been put to bed.

The nurse just left our hall. She’s staying until 10 o’clock. The midnight shift will come in at the same time. I’m hoping that I won’t need a pain med tonight. Last night I felt fatigued which is an unfortunate side effect of my medication. So I turned on the light above our room with a remote switch. It took an hour to get my pain medicine.
