To NaNoWrimo or Not To NaNoWrimo

I’m writing a novel and I have also joined NaNoWriMo. I think if I adhere to NaNoWriMo’s estimate of words per day, I might be able to finish this book by the end of November. Knowing me, I might not finish on time. I think the game is set to write as many words as possible to fit the timeline and bother about whether the story makes sense. Once NaNoWriMo is over then I can go over the book and edit. Is that a good idea or what?
