I’ve changed in my circumstances through the years since I left Indianapolis when I graduated with my degree in Pharmacology. I joined an Ivy League university to work in an important man’s laboratory. I was disappointed with my experiences at the university. I developed depression after suffering a blow to my ego when I had a crush on one of my fellow lab mates. That depression stayed with me through the years. I now have hypothyroidism which has the symptom of depression. If caught earlier, I might have recovered more quickly from depression. I went through the years with another job at Sloan Kettering where the head of the department was kind enough to accept me to work for him. I received a NIH Fellowship while at Yale but I continued with it at MSKCC.
Working in NYC was fun. I took a bus ride once and the views I saw were entertaining. I don’t know how NYC is doing nowadays. The political landscape might be affecting its tourist trade. I hope things settle down in NYC. But I loved living in Queens (that’s a borough for those new to the area in their thoughts). I came to appreciate the varying foods there and discovered that I enjoyed eating Thai food and my native Pilipino food.
