I’ve had a difficult morning so far. But it’s par for the course. These gremlins insist on following me all over the place in my head. But I’ve done a bit of writing on writing dot com. I wrote a few more paragraphs to my story Mollie’s Dilemma. It’s a cautionary tale. I don’t think I’ll publish it as a book. It might be fleshed out someday and then it might make it to a publisher. I don’t know.

I’ve been thinking of making quiche lorraine. I downloaded a recipe from Allrecipes and it looks good enough to make. I used to make it all the time when I was in high school. I even baked it in a toaster oven. It was that simple. And so delicious. I made two batches at a time and ate it all. My stepfather and stepmother didn’t care for it. I guess they weren’t into French food.

I asked my stepfather to get the ingredients when he went to grocery today. But he came back with graham cracker crust instead of pastry crust. So I can’t make it today. I may have to go to the grocery myself and root it out from their frozen food department. It might take some doing, making this recipe because I forgot to ask my stepfather to get shredded Swiss cheese. He bought sliced Swiss cheese instead, so I’ll be shredding it on the box shredder and I hope I know where it has gone. I’ve a thought that it’s somewhere in the drawer where we keep all our stuff for cooking and baking.

It’s too bad we can’t have Quiche Lorraine. I really love eating it. I don’t know that I’ll enjoy making it. I seem to have lost the urge to make food. We have frozen meals and my stepfather is the one who’s given himself the responsibility of making dinner. But he doesn’t do it all the time. We have several instant stuff to eat so it’s not that big of a deal for us to have this more often.

We might have to replace the range/oven. I have tried to cook on one of the elements and it won’t fire up and cook a damn thing. It’s got a few tricky elements. We had three fires from one of them. It was a frightening thing to go through. They weren’t big fires. We had a fire extinguisher (I was being proactive buying it) but the first time I used it it was faulty. Fortunately for us, we had a spray attachment for water and my stepfather stepped in and doused the fire. The house was all smoky and it took a long time for the smoke to abate. I guess we really need to replace the range/oven.
